AT least eight people are feared dead after a plane crashed into an apartment block in Colombia.

Footage showed thick black smoke billowing from a building in the city of Medellín after the crash.

Mayor Daniel Quintero said: “There has been a plane accident in the Belen Rosales sector.

“The full capacity of government has been activated to assist the victims.”

The jet was on route from Medellín to Pizarro with eight passengers on board, according to reports.

Fifteen fire engines are currently at the scene.
