Murder probe is launched after man is found stabbed to death in crashed car in Birmingham

  • Detectives are hunting for a man seen running from the car after the man died
  • Man was treated at the scene but died today in hospital sparking murder probe 
  • Roads in the area were cordoned off as investigation began this afternoon 

A murder probe has been launched after a man was found with a stab wound in a crashed car in Birmingham.

Detectives are also keen to trace a man seen running from the car, saying he may have vital information to help the investigation.

West Midlands Police said the dead man was found in the vehicle at around 3pm on Thursday after it crashed in Metchley Lane, Harborne, near Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Officers attended the scene and found the man being treated by paramedics, but he was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Roads in the area were cordoned off as murder investigation detectives began to establish what happened.

‘We’re keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the car, which was silver, driving erratically from the direction of Harborne Lane prior to the crash,’ the force said.

‘We’re also keen to trace a man seen running from the car, as he may have vital information to help the investigation.’
